Peseiro linked to vacant Kaizer Chiefs role
Former Nigeria Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has emerged as a candidate for the vacant job at South African PSL side Kaizer Chiefs. SportsRation reports.
The 63-year-old and the Nigeria Football Federation failed to come to terms on a new deal, leading to his departure following the expiration of his contract on February 29, 2024.
While the Nigeria football federation has begun the search for a new individual to fill the Super Eagles role, Peseiro is also linked with top jobs following his AFCON silver-medal winning run with the Eagles.
The former Sporting CP manager, has reportedly shown interest in a club management position in South Africa with Kaizer Chiefs.
Peseiro’s successful tenure with the Super Eagles, which saw them reach the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, has garnered interest from Zamalek SC and the Algeria national team, both eager to secure his services.
Despite being a free agent, Peseiro has indicated a preference for rest before making any decisions about his future. Currently, he has been spotted enjoying a holiday in Spain with his wife.
Meanwhile, reports suggest Peseiro may be considering a return to football, with Kaizer Chiefs emerging as a potential destination at the end of the current season.
If he were to join the team, changes to the technical staff may occur at the end of the season. Interim coach Cavin Johnson could revert to his previous role as Head of Youth Development Academy.
