Peseiro plans new goalkeeper for the Super Eagles of Nigeria

Super Eagles of Nigeria head coach, Jose Peseiro has discussed plans for a new goalkeeper with the NFF and Sports Minister ahead of the AFCON.

This report is according to news outlet, OWNGOAL who reported the Super Eagles coach had a private session with officials of the Nigeria Football Federation and the Sports Minister in Abuja.

Peseiro had previously sticked with Omonia Nicosia goalkeeper , Francis Uzoho as Super Eagles first-choice but may have had a change of mind due to repeated errors from the former Golden Eaglet.

Ahead of the African Cup of Nations tournament in January, Nigerian fans have called for the replacement of Uzoho between the posts for the Eagles.

Peseiro is reportedly ready to make a big call as a yet to be identified replacement will take the first-choice spot for Pre-AFCON games.

Meanwhile, SportsRation has listed the likes of Maduka Okoye, Adebayo Adeleye and Noah Atubolu as the possible options in place of Uzoho who has lost the confidence of the Football Federation, Sports Ministry, Nigerian fans and even teammates who are said to be uncomfortable with his most recent performances.

Nigeria will play in group A at the 2023 AFCON against hosts, Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau.

Peseiro whose contract with the Nigeria National team will expire after the AFCON is eyeing a great performance to earn a new one or put him in good stead for another job.

The last time Nigeria won the Africa Cup of Nations title was in 2013, the West African nations third triumph following earlier successes in 1980 and 1994.
