Phoenix Suns overcome slow start to the season to make it nine straight wins
Lakers lose to Bulls, Celtics defeat Cavaliers
Last year’s NBA runners-up Phoenix Suns defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 99-96 to pick up their ninth straight win in the 2021/22 NBA season, the longest such run presently in the division.
After losing three of their first four games this season, the Phoenix Suns recovered to win nine consecutive matches, defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers, New Orleans Pelicans, Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers, Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Devin Booker led the scoring for the Phoenix Suns with 29 points, five rebounds and five assists, and Deandre Ayton finished the game with 22 points and 12 rebounds.
D’Tigers star Chimezie Metu claimed a double-double for the Sacramento Kings claimed a 129-107 win over the Detroit Pistons. The Nigerian contributed 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Kings, and Buddy Hield added 22 points. Cade Cunningham recorded a career-high 25 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in the game.
Washington Wizards picked up a 105-100 win over the New Orleans Pelicans to hand them their 13th defeat. Spencer Dinwiddie contributed 27 points and nine assists for the Wizards in the win.
Boston Celtics defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 98-92 in their NBA meeting. Jayson Tatum led the scoring for the Celtics with 23 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
New York Knicks defeated the Indiana Pacers 92-84 at Madison Square Garden. Kemba Walker led the scoring for the Knicks with 16 points, and Julius Randle contributed a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Atlanta Hawks defeated the Orlando Magic 129-111. John Collins and Trae Young contributed 23 points each, and Clint Capela recorded a double-double of 20 points and 16 rebounds.
Dallas Mavericks defeated the Denver Nuggets 111-101. Kristaps Porzingis finished with 29 points and 11 rebounds for the Mavericks, and Luka Doncic finished with 23 points and 11 assists.
Miami Heat defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 103-90. Tyler Herro led the scoring with 26 points, seven rebounds and six assists. D’Tigers ace Gabe Vincent recorded five points, four rebounds and three assists and KZ Okpala contributed eight points, seven rebounds and one assist.
Memphis Grizzlies recorded a 136-102 win over the Houston Rockets. Ja Morant led the scoring fir the Grizzlies with 22 points, six rebounds and six assists.
CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard combined for 53 points as the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Toronto Raptors 118-113.
Chicago Bulls defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 121-103 in their NBA encounter. DeMar DeRozan and Lonzo Ball combined for 65 points for the Bulls in the win.
