Poland confirms Nigeria friendly game
Poland will face Nigeria for the first time in a senior international friendly on Friday 23 March 2018, the Poland Football Association has announced.
The football body spokesperson Jacub Kwiatwoski revealed about the high level friendly on Monday, stating that it is part of Polish team preparations for the 2018 World Cup.
“We can confirm that on March 23, we’re playing with Nigeria, a decision on the venue of the match is yet to be made,” said Kwiatkowski.
Polish team have been drawn in Group H alongside Senegal, Colombia and Japan while Nigeria will face Argentina, Croatia and Iceland in Group D of the 2018 World Cup.
Super Eagles under coach Gernot Rohr will open their campaign against tricky Croatia in a game that they must win to keep themselves in a better position to qualify to second round.
“The opening game is the most important match and it is good to prepare for it against opponents similar to Croatia,” Rohr said.
The friendly between the two soccer giants maybe fixed to hold in Wroclaw or the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów.
