Premier League Finale: Leeds Utd, Leicester drop to Championship as Soton serve up thriller

Leeds United were relegated to the Championship after they suffered a 4-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on the final day of the Premier League season. Harry Kane opened the scoring before Pedro Porro added a second in the second half. Jack Harrison pulled one back for Leeds before Kane and Lucas Moura rounded off the scoring for Spurs.

Leicester City were relegated after a seven-year stay in the Premier League despite a narrow 2-1 win over West Ham United on the final day. The Foxes took the lead in the first half through Harvey Barnes before Wout Faes headed home a second. Pablo Fornals pulled one back for the Hammers but Leicester held on for the win. Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi featured for the Foxes as they got relegated.

Everton escaped relegation thanks to a brilliant effort from midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure in their 1-0 win at home to Bournemouth.

Relegated Southampton handed Liverpool a scare at St Mary’s Stadium as both teams played out an entertaining 4-4 draw to end the season. Liverpool went in front through goals by Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino before Southampton equalised in the first half with goals from James Ward-Prowse and Kamaldeen Sulemana. The Saints scored twice in the second half through Sulemana and Adam Armstrong to take the lead before Liverpool rescued a point with goals from Cody Gakpo and Jota.

Champions Manchester City ended their season with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Brentford. A late goal from Ethan Pinnock ensured that the Bees became the fifth side to complete a league double over Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Arsenal trounced Wolverhampton Wanderers 5-0 in their final game of the Premier League season at the Emirates Stadium. Granit Xhaka scored twice to put the Gunners ahead on his final match for the club before Bukayo Saka added a third for the side. Gabriel Jesus scored his side’s fourth before Jakub Kiwior added a fifth with his first goal for the club.

Chelsea ended their wretched season with a 1-1 draw at home to Newcastle United. The Magpies took the lead through English winger Anthony Gordon before the Blues were gifted an equaliser when Kieran Trippier turned home a low cross from Raheem Sterling.

Nottingham Forest finished the season with a 1-1 draw away to Crystal Palace. The Reds took the lead when the in-form Taiwo Awoniyi scored his sixth goal in four games, taking his league tally to ten goals this season. The Eagles equalised in the second half when Will Hughes headed home a cross from Michael Olise.

Manchester United picked up a 2-1 win over Fulham in their Premier League finale. Kenny Tete gave the London club the lead before Aleksandr Mitrovic missed a penalty. Jadon Sancho equalised got the Red Devils and Bruno Fernandes added a second goal in the second half.

Aston Villa secured a place in the UEFA Europa Conference League with a 2-1 win over Brighton. Douglas Luiz gave Villa the lead and Ollie Watkins added a second for the side before Deniz Undav scored a consolation for the Seagulls.
