Primeiro de Agosto 2 ZESCO 1: Razak Adegbite & Ibukun Akinfenwa help Angolan champions get first CAFCL win

Razak Adegbite and Ibukun Akinfenwa played great roles as their club Primeiro de Agosto came from a goal down to beat ZESCO United 2-1 in their CAF Champions League matchday 4 clash at the Estádio da Cidadela in Luanda on Friday.

After playing three games without a win and almost losing their hopes of progressing to the quarterfinals, Nigerian duo of Ibukun Akinfenwa and Razak Adegbite put in great shifts in the attack and midfield respectively to ensure the Angolan champions keep hopes of making it to the quarterfinals and secure their first win of their 2018 CAFCL campaign.

Although, the former Sunshine Stars striker Razak Adegbite who played the entire match as the lone striker didn’t score a goal, he had hands in Primeiro de Agosto first goal.

The visitors drew the first blood through John Ching’andu in the 67th minutes and were almost running away with the win but a hardfighting Primeiro de Agosto scored in the 90th and 99th minutes to take all points.

Geraldo got the equalizer and Congolese defender Bobo Ungenda got the winner in the 99th minute of stoppage time for the home side.

Ibukun Akinfenwa pulled string in the midfield for the home team for the entire time of the game while the third Nigerian player in the team, Anifowoshe Kehinde, was an unsed sub.

Agosto are second on 5 points, five points behind Etoile de Sahel who trashed Mbabane Swallows 2-0 in Sousse, Tunisia to remain unbeaten and sure of a place in the quarterfinals with 10 points after 4 games.

With just one point ahead of Swallows, Agosto must hope for good results in their last two games against Etoile du Sahel in Tunisia and Swallows in Angola on 18th and 28th of August respectively.
