Qatar 2022: Ghana coach Addo expects a close match against Portugal
As captain Ayew tagged Portugal the favourite
Ghana coach Otto Addo is expecting a close match when the Black Stars of Ghana play in their opening game at the FIFA World Cup against Portugal on Thursday.
The Black Star will play against Portugal at 5 pm Nigerian time to bring a close to games involving African teams at the 2022 World Cup.
And coach Addo who masterminded Ghana’s qualification ahead of Nigeria is certain his new look Ghana have the players to compete against Portugal.
“We have the quality to compete with Portugal. We have to be very brave.
“We want to play football but we also want to defend well.
“All the Matches are close and I know this match will be same.”
On his part, captain Andrew Ayew called Portugal the favourite but also said Ghana are ready.
“I think Portugal will be ready (despite the CR7 distractions).
“Portugal are favourites but we are ready, we believe in ourselves and we will make it difficult for them.”
