The Super Eagles of Nigeria must avoid defeat in their last FIFA World Cup qualifying game against Cape Verde to ensure a spot in the knockout phase.
Goals from the spot from Victor Osimhen and Ahmed Musa earned Nigeria a hard-fought 2-0 win against Liberia in Tangier on Saturday.
The result would have been enough but Cape Verde came from a goal down to beat Central African Republic in their game to leave the qualification to the last day.
Nigeria with 12 points from four games must avoid defeat against Cape Verde who has 10 points from same number of games.
At the time of this report, four African countries have booked their places in the knockout phase with one game to spare.
The are Morocco from group I, Senegal from group H, Egypt from group F and Mali from group E
In group A, Algeria must avoid defeat in their game against Burkina Faso to secure the ticket. As it stands, Algeria has 13points from 5 games while Burkina Faso has 11 points from same number of games.
In group B, there is all to fight for in the last group games as Tunisia, Equitorial Guinea and Zambia go into the last group phase game with hopes of making ut out of the group.
Tunisia who host Zambia in their last game has 10 points while Chipolopolo has 7 points. Equitorial Guinea who travel to Mauritania has 10 points.
In group C, Super Eagles must avoid defeat against Cape Verde to book a place in the knockout phase.
In group D, Cameroon and Ivory Coast will fight it out for the knockout place ticker. Cameroon has 12 points from 5 games while Ivory Coast has 12 from 4 games with the deciding games being a trip for Ivory Coast to Cameroon.
In group E, Mali are through to the next phase with 13 points from 5 games
In group F, Egypt are through to the knockout stage.
In group G, South Africa must avoid defeat in their last group game against Ghana to confirm their place. Bafana Bafana has 13 points from 5 games while Ghana has 10 from same amount of games.
In group H, Senegal with 13 points are through to the next round.
In Group I, Morocco are through
In Group J, West African neighbours Benin and Togo will play each other for the ticked in that group, Benin with 10 points must avoid defeat in Togo (8) to secure a knockout place.
After the group games, the ten nations who finish top of their groups will be paired with the aggregate winners after an home and away games will secure the ticket for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
