Qinwen Zheng withdraws From 2026 Australian Open
Qinwen Zheng has withdrawn from the Australian Open, confirming the decision in a statement shared on social media.
Zheng said the withdrawal followed medical advice, explaining that while her recovery is progressing, she has not yet reached the level of physical condition she believes is required to compete at a Grand Slam.
Melbourne holds special meaning for the 22-year-old. She described it as her “lucky place,” noting that it was where she won her first Grand Slam main-draw match and enjoyed some of her best experiences on tour. That connection made the decision particularly difficult.
Zheng added that although her offseason went smoothly, she does not feel fully ready to meet the demands of a two-week major tournament. Her focus is now on returning at full strength and building toward the rest of the 2026 season.
She thanked fans for their continued support and said she is looking forward to being back on court at 100 percent soon.
