Rafa Jodar reaches first Masters Quarterfinal, faces Sinner next

Rafa Jodar continued his breakout run in Madrid with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Vít Kopřiva to reach the quarterfinals of a Masters 1000 event for the first time.

The 19-year-old showed control throughout the match. After a tight opening set, he dominated the second, closing it out without dropping a game.

Jodar has now won 12 of his last 13 matches and is enjoying the best run of his young career, doing it in front of his home crowd.

After the match, he spoke about what lies ahead as he prepares to face Jannik Sinner.

“It’s another opportunity. You have to recover well, try to prepare in the best way possible and think about tomorrow. It’s gonna be another tough match.”

He also reflected on his performance so far in the tournament.

“I’m super happy with my level today and my level in this tournament. It’s always special to play at home in front of many people that you know who come to support you.”

Starting the tournament as a wildcard, Jodar has taken full advantage of his chance and now finds himself in his first Masters quarterfinal.
