Rafael Nadal open to another Tennis tournament despite retirement rumours
Rafael Nadal, widely expected to retire in 2024, has hinted he might continue playing beyond that year. SportsRation reports.
The 14-time French Open champion, who faces Alexander Zverev in a tough first-round match at Roland Garros on Monday, addressed his future in a recent news conference.
When asked if 2024 would be his final season, Nadal responded, “Don’t assume that. It’s a big chance that it’s going to be my last Roland Garros. But if I have to tell you it’s 100 percent my last Roland Garros? Sorry, but I will not because I cannot predict what’s going on.”
Nadal, who won his 14th Roland Garros title in 2022, has only lost three times at this tournament. He aims to avoid an early exit as he takes on Zverev, a repeat of their 2022 semi-final match, which Nadal won after Zverev retired during the second set.
Nadal’s comments leave open the possibility that he might play beyond 2024, keeping fans guessing about his future in tennis.
