Rangers Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu labels draw against El-Kanemi Warriors as “One of Our Worst Home Games”
Rangers International head coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu, has described his team’s performance in their recent Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match against El-Kanemi Warriors as one of their worst home games to date.
The reigning NPFL champions were held to a disappointing draw at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, squandering several goal-scoring opportunities and allowing the Federation Cup champions to leave with a valuable point.
Speaking after the match, Ilechukwu, who previously managed MFM FC, expressed his frustration at his team’s inability to secure a win but emphasized the need to move forward.
“Today’s game is one of the worst we’ve played in this stadium, and I’m sad about it,” Ilechukwu lamented. “We had our game plan, but sometimes, football is funny—things don’t go the way you planned. We need to plan our way forward and forget about this game.”
Despite the disappointing result, Ilechukwu remained resolute, urging his team to focus on future challenges. “Today, we performed below what people expected of us, but we’re not going to dwell on it. We have to forge ahead,” he concluded.
The remainder of the matchday fixtures in the NPFL are set to take place next weekend as the league continues to unfold.
