Rangers, Enyimba stumble in NPFL title race, Abia Warriors, Akwa United get survival boost in Week 36
2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday 36 games were decided on Wednesday, June 12 across nine venues.
As the season drew towards the penultimate weekend, there were intense battles for places at both ends of the tables with teams searching for points for different reasons.
At the top of the log, Rangers International of Enugu and Enyimba FC stumbled In the title race while Remo Stars secured a comfortable victory to go two points behind the table-leaders.
Remo Stars were 4-1 victors of Heartland FC to leapfrog Enyimba FC into second place while confirming relegation to the visitors in Ikenne.
In Aba, Enyimba FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Bayelsa United to lose further ground in their quest to retain the NPFL title.
Shooting Stars stood in the way of Rangers International in Ibadan, defeating Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu’s men 1-0 .
At the odd end of the table, Abia Warriors FC secured an important 1-3 away victory against Gombe United to calm possible relegation fears while Akwa United FC also triumphed over Katsina United by the same scoreline in Uyo.
