Rangers FC to honour Mr Ibu with novelty match
Rangers International Football Club, along with celebrities, top personalities, and fans, are set to honor the late John Okafor, popuarly known as Mr. Ibu with a novelty match, celebrating his remarkable career.
The match will follow Rangers FC’s victory in the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), paying tribute to the beloved comedian.
The Chairman of the Central Planning Committee for Mr. Ibu’s burial, Monday Diamond Ani, emphasized that the match is a way of acknowledging Mr. Ibu’s contributions to entertainment. He highlighted that Rangers FC, the official club of the Enugu State Government, winning the league and participating in this event, signifies the state government’s appreciation of Mr. Ibu.
Ani also expressed gratitude to the General Manager of Rangers FC, Amobi Ezeaku, and the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Lloyd Ekweremmadu, for their significant roles in organizing the match. The committee continues to receive donations for the funeral service from family and friends, appreciating all gestures of goodwill towards honoring Mr. Ibu. Ani specifically thanked those who have contributed, including the Best Family, who donated a live cow for the event. He wished for their efforts to be rewarded manifold.
