Rashford Credited With Carabao Cup Final Goal
Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has been credicted with the second goal of the club’s 2-0 win over Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.
Casemiro opened the scoring for Manchester United in the 33rd minute with a header from Luke Shaw’s free kick.
Rashford’s effort deflected off Sven Botman to sail into the net for the second goal which was given credited as an own goal to the Newcastle defender.
The organisers of the competition have announced that the goal has been credited to Marcus Rashford.
“Manchester United’s second goal in the Carabao Cup Final officially went to Marcus Rashford! It means he finishes the competition as top scorer with six goals, having scored in every round,” organisers said in a statement.
Manchester United have now won their first trophy since 2017.
Rashford has enjoyed a productive season since Erik Ten Hag took over the reins of the club in the summer.
He has scored 25 goals for Manchester United in all competitions this season.
