Real Madrid beat Arsenal women in UCL quarter-final first leg
Real Madrid Women have won the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Arsenal, SportsRation reports.
The Spanish team claimed a 2-0 victory in rainy conditions at the Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium.
Heavy rain in Madrid left the pitch in poor shape, making it difficult for Arsenal to play their usual passing style. They found it hard to handle the slow and slippery surface.
Linda Caicedo scored the first goal in the 22nd minute with Real Madrid’s first shot of the match, finishing a quick counter-attack.
As Arsenal tried to find an equaliser, Real Madrid scored again. Substitute Athenea del Castillo struck from the edge of the box, and Arsenal goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger couldn’t stop it.
The second leg will be played next Wednesday at the Emirates Stadium.
