Real Madrid are keen to bring Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho back to the Bernabeu next summer to replace Rafael Benitez, according to a report.
The Portuguese has come under heavy pressure this season for the Premier League champions poor start to their title defence, which has seen them accrue just four wins and 15 points from their first 15 matches.
However, despite Mourinho’s struggles at Chelsea this season, The Sun are reporting that Real owner Florentino Perez still considers the 52-year-old to be the best head coach in the world.
The paper claims that Perez is intent on luring Mourinho back to the Spanish capital at the end of the current season to replace the under-fire Rafael Benitez in the club’s dugout.
It adds that although Mourinho’s time in charge at Madrid was marked by tensions between him and some of the big-name stars at the club, his relationship with Perez has remained close.
Mourinho has won two Champions League titles and eight domestic league championships at four different clubs during his last 12 seasons as a head coach, and won La Liga and the Copa del Rey in his three years with the Spanish giants before leaving for Chelsea in 2013.
