The real reasons behind Ancelotti’s Bayern sack

It is startling to the fans the reason(s) why Bayern Munich sacked their Bundesliga winning manager just 10 games into the start of the 2017-18 season.

To many, it was bound to happen considering how things have been with the German champions in the past couple of days. Shortly after their 3-0 champions league defeat at the hands of Paris Saint Germain, it was almost inevitable that the former Chelsea was on his way out.

In announcing the decision on Thursday, Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge claimed Ancelotti’s dismissal was due to the team’s performances failing to meet expectations.

But the President, Uli Hoeneß indicated that dressing-room fractions played a key part in the manager’s downfall.

“There were five players against Ancelotti,” Hoeness told Westfalenpost.

“It was impossible to get out of that.”

According to ESPN’s Munich-based Raphael Honigstein, there were lingering discontent with the way he has worked, the lack of intensity in training, the lack of tactical direction, the lack of developing young players which is a crucial thing for Bayern because they cannot compete in buying and selling of big stars all the times they need some players coming through their academy and he wasn’t really prepared to do that and immediately they saw that his team was falling apart and he got too many players who are up against him and he lost the trust of the dressing room.

Speaking after their 3-0, Robben refused to say if the team still backed their coach, claiming any comments he made would be “one word too many”.

“I will not answer that,” he said. “It was a painful defeat, we can talk about this. When it is a game as big as this, you never want to lose.”

Robert Lewandowski, Arturo Vidal and Thiago Alcantara are among the players to have paid tribute to their former boss on social media.

“It has been an honour to play for you. I wish you all the luck in the world for your next stage,” midfielder Thiago posted.

French winger Franck Ribery, who earlier this month reacted angrily to being substituted against Anderlecht, simply wrote “Always Forward” on Instagram.
