Real Sociedad confirm Sadiq Umar’s long-term injury
Spanish club Real Sociedad have confirmed that Sadiq Umar has picked up a long-term injury and would be out for a while.
The Super Eagles striker who recently made a big money move from Almeria to Real Sociedad picked up the injury during a La Liga game between his team and Getafe.
Umar Sadiq who has started the La Liga season in great form scoring three from four games before the Getafe game will not be out for a while.
While the length of his absence wasn’t revealed by La Real, the club however confirmed that Sadiq has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament.
The statement put out by the club also confirmed that he will be undergoing a surgical operation very soon and then start his personal work and road to fitness.
Recovery generally takes about nine months. It may take eight to 12 months or more before athletes can return to their sports.
Hopefully, Sadiq who has started the season flying high could return earlier than the speculated dates.
He is definitely out of Nigeria’s friendly match scheduled for September 27th against Algeria.
