Rejuvenated Manchester United Stun Arsenal 3-2 to Open Up Title Race

Manchester United reignited the Premier League title race after beating leaders Arsenal 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. The defeat was Arsenal’s first home league loss of the season.

Arsenal went into the game hoping to restore a seven-point lead at the top following wins for Manchester City and Aston Villa earlier in the weekend. Instead, they were undone by a strong second-half performance from a confident United side.

The hosts started brightly and took the lead in the 29th minute when Lisandro Martínez accidentally turned the ball into his own net. Arsenal looked comfortable at that stage, but United were given a way back into the match eight minutes later. Martin Zubimendi made a costly mistake in midfield, allowing Bryan Mbeumo to intercept his pass and finish calmly to make it 1-1.

United came out strongly after the break and went ahead in the 50th minute. Patrick Dorgu fired a powerful shot that struck the crossbar before bouncing into the net. Arsenal pushed hard for an equaliser and finally found it late on when substitute Mikel Merino poked home from close range in the 84th minute.

However, United had the final say. Just three minutes later, Matheus Cunha curled a superb shot from outside the box to silence the home crowd and secure a memorable victory for the visitors.

The loss leaves Arsenal winless in their last three league matches, although they remain top of the table with 50 points from 23 games. Manchester City and Aston Villa are close behind on 46 points. United’s win lifts them to fourth place on 38 points and tightens the title race.

United have now beaten both Manchester City and Arsenal in their last two matches, underlining their resurgence at a crucial stage of the season.
