Remo Stars’ head coach criticizes poor state of Dan Anyiam stadium pitch

Daniel Ogunmodede, the head coach of Remo Stars, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the poor condition of the pitch at Dan Anyiam Stadium, describing it as more suitable for athletics than football.

After his team’s 3-1 loss to Heartland FC, Ogunmodede spoke to journalists, highlighting how the pitch affected his players’ performance.

Ogunmodede asserted that the state of the pitch in Owerri hindered his players from showcasing their best in the game, emphasizing that it would be more suitable for an athletics competition than football.

He pointed out that the challenging conditions forced his team to adapt to Heartland FC’s style of play, and the two goals conceded in stoppage time were attributed to a lack of concentration.

“The most woeful game for us this season because we played in the most woeful field in the league, ” the Remo Stars head coach said.

” We were running helplessly for 90 minutes. It would have been better to have an athletic competition here rather than having a football competition.

“We lost concentration and we were dealt with. For me, it’s difficult to defend from 1st minute to 90 minutes. That is what we tried to do with the nature of the pitch and we can’t play our game.

” They forced us to play their game due to the nature of the pitch. We couldn’t defend till the end and fight the battle of area balls and they took advantage of it.” he remarked.

Despite the defeat, Remo Stars maintain the top spot on the league table with 29 points and a superior goal difference to Lobi Stars.
