Remo Stars starlet teams up with David Luiz, Vidal at Club World Cup semifinalists
Teenager joins Brazilian side on loan with buy option
Remo Stars youngster Shola Ogundana completed a move abroad, joining Brazilian giants Flamengo on a season-long loan with an option to make the deal permanent. The talented winger becomes the second player from the NPFL side to complete a high-profile switch this season.
Fleet-footed winger Ogundana plays his football primarily for the NPFL side’s U-19 team, Beyond Limits FA, and was in action as they knocked out their senior team in the Ogun State FA Cup. The 18-year-old is an integral member of the academy squad.
Ogundana was the assist king with ten assists in 18 matches and was named in the Team of the Season as he helped Beyond Limits FA win a third successive TCC League Championship. The youngster was also a member of the team that played in the Viareggio Cup in Italy and shone in the tournament.
He joins Flamengo, the side that finished in third place at the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup after losing to Odion Ighalo’s Al-Hilal in the semifinals. He will play for the U-20 side on a season-long loan deal, after which he can be signed permanently for around $500,000 by the club. The teenager will have the opportunity to play with legends such as David Luiz and Arturo Vidal at the Brazilian side.
Blessed with blistering pace and an eye for the final ball, Ogundana becomes a second player after Ebenezer Akinsanmiro to move from Remo Stars to a foreign club this season. He was pictured in the VIP box of the iconic Maracana Stadium alongside the president of the Brazilian club before his unveiling as their latest recruit.
