Rinsola Babajide on how she responded to Bias with Hat-Trick

Rinsola Babajide has spoken about an early moment in her career where she faced rejection not because of her football ability, but because of her identity.

She revealed that a club once chose not to sign her because her name was seen as “not marketable.”

“So let’s just say I faced ethnicity-based barriers where my agent informed me that a club didn’t want to sign me ahead of that season due to my name not being ‘marketable.’”

Rather than let the setback define her path, Babajide turned it into motivation.

“So when I eventually played against that team, I took that game very personally and ended up scoring my first ever professional hat-trick in the Women’s Super League, which left them having to write my name three times in the end.”

Her response came not through words, but through performance.

The club that once overlooked her was forced to acknowledge her impact where it mattered most.
