Rivers Hoopers coaches get NBA Summer League invite
Rivers Hoopers head coach Ogoh Odaudu and assistant coach Abdulrahman Mohamed have been selected to participate in the NBA Summer League from July 12 to 22 in Las Vegas. They are among 25 African coaches chosen for this prestigious opportunity.
Odaudu and Mohamed led Rivers Hoopers to a historic campaign in the 2024 Basketball Africa League (BAL), becoming the first Nigerian team to reach the knockout stages and secure a podium finish.
Odaudu will collaborate with the Cleveland Cavaliers under coach John-Blair “J.B.” Bickerstaff, while Mohamed will join the Utah Jazz under coach Will Hardy.
Rivers Hoopers’ official X handle posted:
“Our head coach @OOdaudu and his assistant at the @thebal Abdulrahman Mohamed are 2 of the 25 African coaches selected to participate in the NBA Summer League from 12-22 July in Las Vegas. While Odaudu will coach with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Mohamed will be with Utah Jazz.”
This marks Odaudu’s second time at the NBA Summer League, having previously assisted former D’Tigers coach Mike Brown in 2022.
Both coaches are currently in the United States and are eager to apply their newfound knowledge to develop basketball at the grassroots level in Nigeria. Odaudu was recently named the 2024 BAL head coach of the year.
