Rivers United embark on break after EMPTY 2023/2024 League campaign
By their standards, Rivers United FC ended the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League season empty, with no title or continental spot to show.
Aside a quarter-final run in the CAF Confederation Cup which was a repeat of their 2022/2023 performance in the same competition, the Pride of Rivers could not finish in the NPFL top-three and also parted ways with long-serving manager, Stanley Eguma.
Following the conclusion of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League season, Rivers United has embarked on a break.
The Pride of Rivers wrapped up their campaign with a 3-1 defeat to Akwa United at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. That result helped the hosts secure their NPFL status for another season.
Days after the final game of the season, Okey Kpalukwu, the General Manager of Rivers United, expressed his gratitude to the players for their dedication and commitment throughout the season.
The team started the season strongly and reached the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, where they were defeated by RS Berkane of Morocco.
Kpalukwu announced a one-week break for the team, with the resumption date set for July 3, 2024
