Rivers United Fall 1–0 to Power Dynamos in CAF Champions League Clash
Rivers United suffered a 1–0 defeat to Zambian side Power Dynamos in their Group C CAF Champions League match played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Sunday.
The visitors scored the only goal of the game five minutes after the restart, with Kondwani Chiboni finding the net to seal an important win for Power Dynamos. It was the Zambian club’s first-ever victory in the group stage of the competition.
The result moves Power Dynamos up to third place in Group C with four points from four matches. Rivers United, on the other hand, remain bottom of the group and are yet to record a win in the group stage.
Rivers United will now turn their attention to a tough next fixture against defending champions Pyramids FC of Egypt, while Power Dynamos are set to host RS Berkane of Morocco on Saturday.
With the group stage entering a decisive phase, Finidi George’s side faces a crucial period as they look to revive their campaign and keep their hopes of reaching the knockout stages alive.
