Rivers United set for crunch Celtic showdown
Rescheduled fixture to hold in Porto Novo
Nigeria Professional Football League side, Rivers United are set to take on South African DSTV Premier League side, Bloemfontein Celtic in the rescheduled second leg encounter between the teams on Saturday, January 24th.
The fixture was supposed to hold in the first week of January in Port Harcourt, but was postponed due to travel restrictions in Nigeria. The game will now be played at the Stade Charles de Gaulles in Porto Novo.
The Nigerian side won the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup first preliminary round in South Africa 2-0, with goals from Godwin Aguda and Fortune Omoniwari securing the victory. Popular Nigerian business magnate and soccer lover, Felix Obuah has pledged to give 1 million Naira to the Rivers United team if they manage to win, and a further 200,000 Naira for every goal scored by the team.
Rivers United are currently on top of the NPFL table, and are a side in form. Celtic, on the other hand, are in 11th place on the DSTV premier league standings. The winners of the tie have been drawn against Nigerian side, Enyimba in the second preliminary round.
