Rohr talks about disappointing Eagles and one Awoniyi problem at AFCON

Gernot Rohr former Super Eagles handler has given his valuation of the team performance at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria were heavy favourites after their 1-0 opened win against Egypt.

The backed the tag up by winning all three group games only to be beaten in the round pf 16 by Tunisia.

A result that shocked the world and Gernot Rohr who gave his honest opinion about his former side.

“Nigeria was disappointing,” said Rohr.

“Losing to a weakened Tunisia in the round of 16 came as a surprise.”

Gernot Rohr also gave his opinion on Taiwo Awoniy who led Super Eagles front line in the absence of Victor Osimhen.

One of the issue Rohr had while in charge was overlooking the former Liverpool striker even when banging goals for his Germany club Union Berlin.

“Awoniyi played a very good tournament. You could see his potential, but there was still a lack of coordination with the team – he hasn’t been there very long.”

Ther Franco German has been linked with a move to Ghana where he could stop Nigeria from making the 2022 World Cup.
