Rohr unhappy with Amapakabo’s departure, wants Yobo to get his coaching badges
Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr is not happy with the Nigeria Federation Football decision to sack his long term assistant Imma Amapakabo.
This week, the NFF replaced the former Rangers International manager with former Super Eagls captain, Joseph Yobo.
A decision which has divided opinions with many in support of the decision while a few questioning the appointment largely due to Joseph Yobo’s inexperience as a coach.
Gernot Rohr has also had his say concerning the appointment stating he was informed about the development before it was made public and that Joseph Yobo is welcomed but must obtain his coach licenses.
“I was informed by Amaju Pinnick, in a telephone call, before it was made public.
“I have the responsibility to develop coaches from Nigeria as agreed with NFF. I am more than happy to do that.
“Joseph (Yobo) is welcome to the team, of course. I have heard that he has no coaching diplomas, so I will talk to him, about this.
“If what I have heard is correct, I will tell Yobo that he needs to do the training required, to grow as a coach.”
Gernot Rohr then expressed unhappiness over the removal of Imma Amapakabo who in his words did a good job.
“I don’t know why Amapakabo has been removed. I worked very well with him. He did a very good job with me.
“I regret his departure. But since the NFF has the right to take this decision, there is nothing that I can do about it.”
