Roma Legend Urges Club to Move for Ademola Lookman
Former Roma striker Roberto Pruzzo has advised his old club to try to sign Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman before the end of the season.
Roma have already been active in the January transfer window, adding Robinio Vaz from Marseille and Donyell Malen from Aston Villa. The club is still looking to strengthen the squad as they chase success in Serie A.
The Giallorossi are currently fourth in the league, seven points behind leaders Inter Milan, and are keen to push strongly in the second half of the season. Pruzzo believes Lookman could be the player to give Roma the extra boost they need.
The Nigerian attacker has been a key player for Atalanta over the past two seasons. Since joining the club, the 28-year-old has scored 55 goals and provided 26 assists in 134 matches. Although he started the current campaign slowly, his form has improved greatly since December.
Lookman also played an important role in Nigeria’s third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, scoring three goals and providing four assists.
Pruzzo suggested that Roma should consider a loan move for the winger, saying his time at Atalanta may be nearing its end and that his arrival could lift the team’s title hopes.
However, a deal could be difficult to complete. Atalanta are known to be tough negotiators and may be unwilling to sell one of their top players to a direct rival. Any permanent transfer would likely require a fee of around €50 million, which could be beyond Roma’s current budget.
Atalanta have also made it clear in the past that they prefer a full transfer rather than a loan. Meanwhile, Lookman has been linked with a possible move to Galatasaray, with the Turkish club reportedly ready to spend big.
With 18 months still left on his contract, Atalanta are expected to stand firm and could decide to keep the Nigerian forward until the summer transfer window.
