Ronaldo Speaks About His Relationship With Messi
Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has shared his thoughts on his long-time football rival, Argentina’s Lionel Messi.
For years, fans and media have compared Ronaldo and Messi, as they battled in Spain’s La Liga and competed for awards like the Ballon d’Or. But in a recent interview on Spanish TV show El Chiringuito, Ronaldo made it clear that there was never any bad blood between them.
“I have never had a bad relationship with Messi,” Ronaldo said. “It’s quite the opposite.”
Despite their fierce battles in El Clasico matches between Real Madrid and Barcelona, Ronaldo insisted they were never personal rivals.
When asked if two players could ever achieve what he and Messi did at the same time, Ronaldo said, “I hope so. It would be good for football. But I think it will be difficult.”
Ronaldo and Messi have dominated football for over a decade, winning 13 Ballon d’Or awards, nine Champions League titles, and 12 La Liga titles combined. They have also scored more than 1,770 goals between them.
While stars like Kylian Mbappé and Robert Lewandowski continue to shine, they still have a long way to go to match the legendary careers of Ronaldo and Messi.
