Ronaldo wins big again
Juventus ace, Cristiano Ronaldo was named as Globe Soccer’s Player of the Century at a ceremony held in Dubai. The award was given for his immense performance in the 21st century, from 2001 to 2020. Within this time, he has won the Ballon D’Or 5 times, also winning the UEFA Champions League 4 times with Real Madrid, winning it thrice in a row while playing a starring role in all of the triumphs. He also led Portugal to the 2016 UEFA European Championships and the 2019 UEFA Nations League, which they won.
Real Madrid was named as the Team of the Century, having won the Spanish La Liga 7 times in this century, and the UEFA Champions League 5 times. They also won the FIFA Club World Cup 4 times, with 3 of the titles won consecutively between 2016 and 2018.
Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, was also named as the Manager of the Century, having made his managerial bow at Barcelona this century, and he won the UEFA Champions League twice in 2009 and 2011, before heading to Bayern Munich and then Manchester City.
Bayern Munich and Poland striker, Robert Lewandowski, was named as the Player of the Year, following a very impressive season in which he scored 55 goals to propel his club to a treble, and earning him the FIFA The Best award for Player of the Year.
