Rooney strike helps Manchester United avoid embarrassing away record

Jose Mourinho would have led Manchester United to an unwanted record this season but club’s highest goal scorers and legend Wayne Rooney came to the rescue.

Prior to Tottenham v Manchester United clash, The Red Devils have failed to find the back of the net in their previous away 4 clashes against teams in the top 5 in the Premiership.

Mourinho and Manchester United suffered an embarrassing defeat when they visited Stamford Bridge and were undone by Wenger’s boys when they visited The Emirates Stadium.

Their visit to Anfield and City rivals ended in a goalless draw and it would have been zero away goal for Manchester United against teams in the top 5 in 2016-17 season till Rooney’s 71st minute strike against Tottenham ensured United scored an away goal against a team in the top 5.

Liverpool 0-0 Man Utd
Chelsea 4-0 Man Utd
Man City 0-0 Man Utd
Arsenal 2-0 Man Utd
Spurs 2-1 Man Utd
