Ruben Amorim frustrated over intense media attention in the Premier League

Ruben Amorim expressed frustration with the intense media attention as Manchester United managed only a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town in his first match as manager.

Marcus Rashford scored early to give United a promising start at Portman Road, but the team failed to maintain their momentum. Amorim acknowledged the challenges his squad faced while adjusting to his tactics, having had limited time together.

“This week, I spoke more to the media than I did in four years at Sporting,” Amorim told BBC Sport. “I just want to work with my players. Nothing more.”

He explained that the players were overthinking during the game and struggled with decision-making under pressure.

“My players were thinking too much in the game. We’ve had just two days together, and we need more time,” he said. “Ipswich left us in one-on-one situations many times, and we have to take advantage of those moments. We also lost some balls under no pressure.”

Amorim admitted the team’s inability to maintain control after their strong start but praised the players for their effort.

“When you start like we did, you have to control the ball. We couldn’t do it, but the players really, really tried.”

Manchester United will now shift focus to their next challenge, a home game against Bodo in the UEFA Europa League.
