English midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has signed with AC Milan on a four-year deal for £17m after 19 years at Chelsea.
Talented midfielder Loftus-Cheek joined the Chelsea setup aged eight in 2004 and remained at the club ever since, making his professional debut in 2014 under Jose Mourinho. The 27-year-old saw his initial years at the club hampered by various injuries as he struggled to stay fit for long stretches, causing him to struggle to hold down a regular shirt despite his obvious talent.
Loftus-Cheek made 155 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 13 goals and recording 18 assists in his time at the club. A loyal servant of the club, the English midfielder was happy to play in any position for the club in his nine-year stay in the first team. He played at right-back, central midfield, on the wings and as a striker under various managers at Stamford Bridge.
He spent the 2017-18 season on loan at Crystal Palace and the 2020-21 season at Fulham. He has now joined AC Milan on a permanent deal until 2027 and will earn around £3.4m annually at the club.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek becomes the third player to leave Chelsea for AC Milan in recent seasons after Fikayo Tomori and Olivier Giroud. He is the Italian club’s first major addition this window.
