Ruud Van Nistelrooy guides Manchester United to unbeaten streak before Amorim’s arrival

Ruud Van Nistelrooy concluded his temporary tenure as Manchester United manager with a commanding 3-0 victory against Leicester City, maintaining an unbeaten run during his brief stint.

With Ruben Amorim set to take over in the coming days, Van Nistelrooy’s leadership has provided a much-needed boost to the squad.

Taking charge after Erik ten Hag’s dismissal, Van Nistelrooy led the Red Devils through four unbeaten games, emphasizing team morale and self-belief—elements that had faltered under his predecessor.

During his time at the helm, the team had previously secured a 5-2 victory over Leicester in the EFL Cup, showcasing their attacking prowess.

Following the match, the former striker shared his insights on his approach during this transitional phase. “You saw the class of the team in our goals; we also gave very little away,” he stated.

Van Nistelrooy emphasized the importance of stabilizing the team after a challenging period, saying, “We tried to stabilize after a difficult and emotional time.

We wanted to get players performing at their best, and we instilled a sense of belief in them. This spell was a big responsibility, and I took it very seriously.” The unbeaten run included a draw against Chelsea and a Europa League victory over Greek side PAOK, illustrating a well-rounded performance under pressure.

While Van Nistelrooy’s tenure as manager is ending, he is expected to stay on as an assistant coach following Amorim’s appointment.

This arrangement is welcomed by both Van Nistelrooy and the players, as he will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between the Portuguese coach and the dressing room during the early stages of the transition.
