Rwanda to Compensate Fans After Nigeria Defeat

The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) has apologised to fans after the national team lost 2-0 to Nigeria in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Victor Osimhen scored two goals in the first half to give the Super Eagles an important win over Rwanda’s Amavubi at a packed stadium in Rwanda.

After the defeat, FERWAFA focused on supporters who bought tickets but could not enter the stadium. Many fans were left outside despite paying for tickets.

In a statement released after the match, FERWAFA said they were sorry for the problem and promised to compensate the affected fans.

“We thank all Rwandans and Amavubi supporters who came to support the national team in the match against Nigeria,” the statement read.

“We are very sorry to those who bought tickets but could not enter the stadium. As compensation, tickets bought for 1,000 RWF and 2,000 RWF will be valid for our next home game against Lesotho on March 25, 2025. Other unused tickets from today’s game will also be valid for that match.”

FERWAFA also thanked fans for their support and encouraged them to continue backing the team in the qualifiers.

Rwanda will now focus on their next match against Lesotho, as they hope to keep their World Cup dream alive after the loss to Nigeria.
