Sabalenka: “It’s Not Just About Me and Swiatek”
Aryna Sabalenka pushed back against the idea that her season will revolve around one rivalry after being asked about Iga Świątek during her Australian Open press conference.
Sabalenka explained that while she and Świątek are rivals, there are many other top players and matchups in women’s tennis right now.
“It’s not only about me and Iga. There’s Coco, Elena, Jessica… I don’t want to forget about anyone right now,” Sabalenka said.
“It’s crazy to think we only played once last year. We haven’t played this year yet. I hope we’re gonna play more often this season.”
She stressed that the current WTA landscape is deeper than ever, with several players capable of pushing for the biggest titles.
“It’s not only about us. There are so many players I also have a great rivalry with.”
