Sabastine, & Onyenezide get late call-ups for Nigeria v Japan friendly
As Falconets number swell to seven
Flourish Sabastine, Esther Onyenezide, Esther Ogbonna Akudo, and Jumoke Alani have been handed late call-ups by coach Randy Waldrum for Nigeria’s friendly against Japan.
On Saturday, SportsRation reported that the Super Falcons Nigeria-based delegation left Nigeria for Kobe, the venue of the International friendly against Japan.
While the details of the players who left Nigeria were sketchy at the time, Savid News has revealed that six players from the Falconets team made the trip.
The initial call-ups, had just four Falconets players, Nkiruka Obidinma, Tosin Demehin, Rofiat Imuran, and Deborah Abiodun but three more players from the team that made it to the quarterfinals in Costa Rica have been added.
Bayelsa forward, Flourish Sabastine, Edo Queens defender, Jumoke Alani, and Robo Queens midfielder, Esther Onyenezide were given late call-ups to push the Falconets’ number to 6.
Rivers Angels defender, Esther Ogbonna Akudo was also handed a late call-up making a total of four new call-ups to the initial 22 call-ups.
The additional call-up could be as a result of issues some of the players are currently facing securing their visas to Japan.
A few European-based players, including Leicester City’s Ashleigh Plumptre, have secured visas to Japan, a few others [names withheld] are still racing against time to get theirs, having up till Monday for a surety.
The Super Falcons will be facing Japan in Kobe come October 6th.
