Sadiq Umar scores goal number 20 in Almeria draw
Ex-Dream Team striker pushing Spanish Segunda side to La Liga
Sadiq Umar scored a brace for Spanish second division side, Almeria as they played a 2-2 draw with Real Oviedo in their La Liga Smartbank match on Saturday, taking his tally to 20 for Almeria this season.
The lanky striker, who has represented AS Roma and Rangers in the past, opened the scoring from the penalty spot after 22 minutes of the encounter before adding a second eight minutes later to give his side a two goal cushion. They were however unable to hold onto the lead and were pegged back twice by Real Oviedo as the game ended 2-2 with both sides settling for a point apiece.
Sadiq, who was named on the last Super Eagles roster but was unable to meet up with the squad due to some reason has seen his goals propel Almeria to third on the table, only behind Espanyol and RCD Mallorca. His 20 goals is the second most by a Nigerian this season in Europe, only behind Paul Onuachu who has 32 goals.
