Qatar 2022

Saido Mane suffers injury scare 13 days before Senegal’s first World Cup game

Saido Mane appeared to have suffered an injury just 13 days before Senegal’s first World Cup game against the Netherlands.

The reigning African footballer of the year who carries the hopes of The Teranga Lions and the idea of an African nation going all the way at Qatar 2022, could miss the tournament.

Saido Mane was substituted 20 minutes into a Bundesliga Game between Bayern Munich and Werder Bremen at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday.

Bayern Munich went on to win the game 6-1 despite Saido Mane’s injury with the scoreline at 1-1.

While it looked like Bayern Munich had everything under control with or without Saido Mane, this cannot be said of Senegal who will be counting on their most important player.

Saido Mane is the second-best player in the world and will definitely be missed by any team considering what he adds to any team.

The extent of his injury is not yet known.

Senegal face the Netherlands on 21 November, one day after the World Cup begins in Qatar.

They will play against the hosts, Qatar on 25 November and then against Costa Rica on 29 November.
