Saka scores brace as Arsenal beat Monaco
Arsenal won an important 3-0 victory at home against Monaco in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
The Gunners came into the match after a 1-1 draw with Fulham in the Premier League.
Despite not playing their best, Arsenal managed to win comfortably.
Manager Mikel Arteta was able to start a strong team, despite concerns about injuries. Jurrien Timber, who missed the morning training, was on the bench, and Thomas Partey started the game.
Arsenal played well at the start, but it wasn’t until the 34th minute that they scored. Gabriel Jesus missed two big chances before Myles Lewis-Skelly made a great play to pass the ball to Jesus, who crossed it to Bukayo Saka for an easy tap-in.
Arsenal could have been 4-0 up by halftime, but they missed four more chances and only led 1-0 at the break.
In the second half, Monaco played better and controlled the game, but Arsenal got lucky when Monaco’s goalkeeper made a mistake. Saka took advantage and scored his second goal.
Arsenal sealed the win with a third goal, as Saka’s shot hit Kai Havertz and went into the net.
