Salah Equals Rooney’s Record as Liverpool Return to Winning Ways

Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah has made more Premier League history after matching Wayne Rooney’s record of 276 goal involvements for a single club.

The Egyptian star achieved the milestone in style, scoring in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa to end their poor run of form and silence recent criticism.

Salah’s Premier League tally now stands at 187 goals and 88 assists for Liverpool — the same total Rooney recorded for Manchester United (183 goals and 93 assists).

The goal also marked another proud moment for the 32-year-old, as he became just the third player in Liverpool’s history to score 250 goals in all competitions, joining club greats Ian Rush (346) and Roger Hunt (285).

His record-equalling strike came after a mistake from Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martínez, which allowed Salah to calmly slot the ball into an empty net in first-half stoppage time.

With his contract running until 2027, Salah could soon surpass Rooney and possibly become the first player ever to reach 300 Premier League goal involvements for a single club — a record that would secure his place among the league’s all-time greats.

Beyond personal achievements, Salah’s goal was vital for Liverpool, who had lost four consecutive league games before this match. The win eased pressure on manager Arne Slot and lifted spirits at Anfield.

Once again, when Liverpool needed a hero, Mohamed Salah delivered — proving why he remains the club’s most reliable star.
