Salah Leaves Out Jay-Jay Okocha from List of Africa’s Greatest Players

Mohamed Salah has named his top African football legends—but he didn’t include former Super Eagles captain Jay-Jay Okocha.
Africa has produced many football stars over the years, including George Weah, Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto’o, and Okocha. Salah himself is also seen as one of the best, thanks to his amazing performances for Liverpool and Egypt. Since joining Liverpool in 2017, he has scored over 200 goals and helped the team win big trophies.

Salah Names His Favorites – Okocha Not Included
In a recent interview during a Ballon d’Or video, Salah was asked who he thinks is the greatest African footballer of all time. He smiled and said, “Me! Yeah… there are so many,” before mentioning George Weah, Didier Drogba, and Samuel Eto’o.
Although Salah praised those legends, he didn’t mention Jay-Jay Okocha—a name many fans expected to hear. Okocha is famous for his skill, creativity, and fun style of play. He played 73 games for Nigeria and starred in World Cups, leaving a lasting impression on football fans worldwide.
Okocha’s Legacy Still Strong
Even though Salah left him out, Jay-Jay Okocha is still considered one of Africa’s greatest players. Fans remember him for his tricks, flair, and ability to make football exciting.
