Salah Marks 300th Liverpool Appearance as Nottingham Forest Shock Reds at Anfield

Mohamed Salah reached a major milestone on Saturday as he made his 300th appearance for Liverpool, but the occasion ended on a disappointing note with a 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest at Anfield. The loss leaves Liverpool eight points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal.
Salah’s achievement has drawn comparisons with Cristiano Ronaldo, who also reached 300 appearances for Manchester United during his second spell at the club. The numbers show that Salah has scored more than twice as many goals and provided more than twice as many assists for Liverpool as Ronaldo had managed by the time he hit the same milestone at United.
While Salah’s landmark match ended in frustration, Ronaldo’s 300th game for United was far more memorable. It came in a 3-2 comeback win against Atalanta in the Champions League, where he scored the late winner with one of his trademark headers.
There is, however, an important difference between both journeys. Salah arrived at Liverpool in 2018 at the age of 25, already experienced after spells with Basel, Fiorentina and Roma, and ready to make an immediate impact. Ronaldo, on the other hand, was only 18 when he joined Manchester United in 2003. He was still developing, and his early years were not as prolific. He famously went 26 Champions League matches without scoring before becoming one of the greatest forwards in history.
Ronaldo did not reach 300 matches during his first spell at Old Trafford, making 292 appearances before leaving for Real Madrid in 2009. He eventually reached the 300 mark after returning to the club in 2021.
Despite their different paths, the statistics show the impressive scale of Salah’s contribution. To have recorded twice as many goals and assists as Ronaldo at the same stage highlights just how influential the Egyptian has been for Liverpool.
Here is how Salah’s numbers after 300 matches compare with Ronaldo’s at Manchester United.
