Salah ruled out of Liverpool clash vs Taiwo Awoniyi’s Nottingham Forest

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on the fitness of Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Wataru Endo ahead of their upcoming match against Nottingham Forest on Saturday. Among them, one player has definitely been ruled out of the clash.

Nigerian striker, Taiwo Awoniyi will have opportunity to face his former club, who will be without his African brother.

Salah and Nunez have been sidelined since Liverpool’s 4-1 victory over Brentford two weeks ago, while Szoboszlai has been dealing with a hamstring problem since January. Klopp confirmed that Salah would not feature against Forest, with the Egyptian expected to return to training next week.

Klopp said: “I don’t think Mo is too far off, but he will not feature tomorrow. From there, we have to go. It’s like what we said with the other two. Touch and go, unfortunately that stays the case with Mo for a little bit longer. But I think next week, at any point, it is possible. So he is on the way back, definitely, but not there yet.

“Darwin and Dom trained yesterday with the team. They looked good, we have to wait to see how they react.”

Klopp also mentioned that Endo and Andy Robertson should return to training on Friday after missing the FA Cup win over Southampton in midweek due to injury and illness. “Wataru and Robbo didn’t train yesterday, but the plan is they join in today,” he said.

The news of Salah’s absence will be a boost for teams like Arsenal and Manchester City, who are in contention with Liverpool in the Premier League title race. Salah, being Liverpool’s top scorer, is a crucial player for Klopp’s team.

Liverpool currently lead the Premier League table by two points ahead of both City and Arsenal. While the Reds possess considerable talent to maintain their title bid, Salah’s absence remains a significant setback and provides hope to their competitors.
