Samson Unanuel backs Super Eagles to gun down Lesotho in Uyo
Former Kwara United FC coach, Samson Unanuel has backed the Super Eagles of Nigeria to get their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification journey off to a winning start vs Lesotho In Uyo.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will face the Crocodiles of Lesotho on matchday one of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification series on November 16, 2023 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
Ahead of the game, veteran tactician Samson Unanuel is optimistic the Super Eagles will fly past the Crocodiles of Lesotho in Uyo.
“This is one game the Super Eagles will be hoping to approach with a winning mentality because it’s the opening game, Unanuel said as quoted by CompleteSports.
“Again, I am very optimistic Nigeria will triumph over Lesotho considering the calibre of players at our disposal.
“Missing out from the 2022 World Cup still hurt a lot of the players and they will want to rewrite history book.”
According to CAF, winners of each Group will automatically qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The four best runners-up (from the Groups) will play in a CAF Play-Off tournament.
The winner of the CAF Play-Off Tournament will play in the FIFA Play-off Tournament to potentially be the 10th African nation at the 2026 World Cup.
Jose Peseiro tutored Super Eagles of Nigeria will face Lesotho, Rwanda, Benin Republic, Zimbabwe and South Africa in group A.
