Samuel Chukwueze scores match-winner as AC Milan beat Real Madrid
Nigerian forward, Samuel Chukwueze scored the only goal of the match as AC Milan defeated Real Madrid 1-0 at Soldier Field in Chicago in the early hours of Wednesday, August 1, 2024.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria forward struck in the 55th minute, connecting with Mattia Liberali’s pass and beating Real Madrid’s goalkeeper Andriy Lunin at his near post.
This match was AC Milan’s third pre-season fixture under new manager Paulo Fonseca, who replaced Stefano Pioli in the summer.
Milan had previously drawn with Rapid Vienna and secured a 3-2 victory over Manchester City. Chukwueze’s goal marks his first in Milan’s pre-season, following two assists in their win over Manchester City.

With this victory, Milan’s pre-season unbeaten run extends to three games. They will next face Barcelona on August 7 in Baltimore, followed by a match against Monza six days later.
For Samuel Chukwueze, his new found form in Milan colours is down to the confidence new manager Paulo Fonesca has in his ability.
After the win over Manchester City days ago, the Nigerian international had said: “I like the new coach, he gave me an opportunity straight away, it’s important when someone trusts you. The fans will see a new Samu this year,” he said.
