Samuel Chukwueze sees action as AC Milan defeat Leece in Serie A

Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze featured in AC Milan’s dominant 3-0 win over Lecce at the San Siro on Thursday night, as the Rossoneri continued their impressive Serie A campaign. The victory sees Milan go level on points with league leaders Torino, further boosting their title hopes.

AC Milan came into the match on the back of their thrilling Derby della Madonnina win over Inter Milan and continued their fine form with a third consecutive Serie A victory. Despite Lecce’s organized defence in the early stages, Milan eventually broke the deadlock in the 38th minute with Álvaro Morata’s glancing header.

Shortly after, Theo Hernandez doubled the lead, making him Milan’s joint-highest scoring defender with a close-range finish. Christian Pulisic added a third goal before halftime, capitalizing on a fortunate ricochet to put the result beyond doubt.

Chukwueze was introduced in the 63rd minute, replacing Christian Pulisic with the game already out of Lecce’s reach. The Super Eagles winger showed flashes of his potential during his 30-minute cameo but continues to search for consistency and form.

Since joining Milan from Villarreal, Chukwueze has found it challenging to secure a regular starting spot, often overshadowed by the in-form Pulisic and Rafa Leao. Nonetheless, his brief appearance in this victory provided glimpses of his capabilities, and Milan fans will hope to see more of him as the season progresses.

The only sour note for Milan came in the final moments of the match when Davide Bartesaghi was sent off with a straight red card for a late challenge on Lecce’s Lameck Banda. Despite being reduced to 10 men, Milan comfortably held on for the win, maintaining their momentum as they climbed to second place in the Serie A standings.

Chukwueze and his teammates will now look to build on this victory as they aim to continue their push for the Serie A title.
