Samuel Chukwueze shines as AC Milan retain Silvio Berlusconi trophy

Samuel Chukwueze played a pivotal role in AC Milan’s 3-1 victory over Monza, helping the Rossoneri secure the Silvio Berlusconi Trophy at San Siro. The win marks the end of Milan’s preseason on a high note.

Chukwueze, who started the game on the bench, was brought on at halftime, replacing Belgian winger Alexis Saelemaekers with the score tied 1-1. Milan initially led with a deflected rabona from Saelemaekers, but Daniel Maldini equalized for Monza before the break.

The second half saw Milan’s substitutes make a significant impact. Luka Jovic scored shortly after coming on, and Tijjani Reijnders sealed the victory with a spectacular long-range strike. Chukwueze’s introduction proved crucial; his speed and creativity caused problems for Monza’s defense. He also created a prime chance for Noah Okafor, who was thwarted by a brilliant save.

Despite a lineup featuring stars like Rafael Leao and new signings such as Alvaro Morata, it was the contributions of Chukwueze and other substitutes that turned the game in Milan’s favor.

This win adds to Chukwueze’s trophy haul with Milan, following their penalty shootout victory over Monza in last season’s Silvio Berlusconi Trophy. As the new season approaches, Chukwueze and Milan are set to compete in Serie A, the Coppa Italia, and the Champions League, aiming for further success.
